STORY:GNV 2020
MARCH 14, 2020
STORY:GNV 2020 CANCELLED
Hello all,
I’ve been responding to the situation as it has been developing regarding COVID-19 & community events. I have still not seen any guidance around events in the community from the City or County, and the health department has not made any declarations either. I have been following the City’s lead on this and as of this afternoon, they have cancelled multiple events over this next weekend, which tells me that, in lieu of a formal policy, that is the approach that is most prudent to take at this time.
We here at Self Narrate are disheartened to have to cancel STORY:GNV 2020, but that is what is happening. We greatly appreciate your understanding in this challenging time. STORY:GNV has traditionally been one of our favorite times of the year because it is a true culmination and building up of our storytelling community in Gainesville and an opportunity to learn from and connect with each other.
We are looking into ways to still get some of the presentations out there in different formats. No word on what that will look like yet, but keep an eye out on Self Narrate’s social media pages for more on that as it develops.
We want to thank everyone who was involved with the conference and dedicated their time in different ways. From the Cade who offered their amazing space, to the speakers who developed amazing presentations, to our volunteers who were all ready to help make this an unforgettable experience for everyone.
And again, thank you for your interest in being part of helping to make Gainesville even better through the power of story.
Thank you again for understanding and stay tuned for future storytelling events in our community!
Sincerely,
Brandon Telg, Self Narrate
Innovation Through Story
WE'RE BACK IN 2020 AND BETTER THAN EVER
2020 marks the first time the STORY:GNV Conference has been held in the Spring, but also the first time we’ve held convened at the Cade Museum. The Cade is a museum of innovation that believes in the power of story, so its only fitting that this year’s theme is Innovation Through Story. Storytelling is a powerful tool for making ourselves and our world better. This year, our speaker tracks will feature innovations in how storytelling can be used as a tool for Personal Growth, Organizational Growth, and Community Growth. A number of incredible speakers on all of these subjects has been curated. Come join the conversation!
WHAT IS STORY:GNV?
STORY:GNV is Gainesville’s first conference to use storytelling to showcase how we can connect with others more thoughtfully, do business more efficiently and change our communities more wholeheartedly. STORY:GNV is bringing together a diverse group of individuals from many different sectors of Gainesville, representing Personal Growth, Organizational Growth, and Community Growth– to share the ways that storytelling impacts their work. Gather ’round the proverbial campfire, Gainesville.
